As far as we know, Desertfest Oslo in May 2026 will mark 11 years since Spelljammer last visited town. Høstsabbat 2015 if we’re not mistaken?
Back then Spelljammer was one of those pivotal Swedish bands, defining the classic, ultra-heavy stonerdoom sound. A sound stacked with slick, ultra-heavy riffs, ethereal, shouting vocals and an almost OM-like transcendency to it.
Riding Easy Records, a quintessential, highly influential label out of LA, California, noticed what Spelljammer was all about, and made sure the underground world tagged along as they signed the Swedes to their roster.
Their latest full length Abyssal Trip was released back in 2021, and even if we haven’t seen Spelljammer at every stage and festival every weekend, they still execute their delicious blend of stoner and doom to absolute perfection. Blistering even!
It’s about time Oslo puts the jam back in Spelljammer, right?
